Aaliyah and her little sister Tehyah have always been close. When Tehyah was 3 years old, she experienced a series of strokes which left her with permanent brain damage. Now 13, she is non-verbal, immobile and extremely vulnerable to serious illness. This naturally has a huge impact on her family, especially her three siblings.

Thankfully, the family found Reuben's Retreat, a project that currently supports 115 families who have children with highly complex needs. Funding from BBC Children in Need pays for Jess, a Children’s Champion, who supports Tehyah, Aaliyah and their two brothers.

Reuben’s Retreat provides an accessible and safe space for Tehyah, Aaliyah and their brothers to play, swim, take part in organised activities and make precious memories together.
